Yesterday a lady named Cherel came to talk to us about sun safety and skin cancer. She also talked about what actually gives a person skin cancer. The thing that gives a person skin cancer is ultraviolet rays or UV rays. She also said that darker-skinned people take longer to get sunburned. and the only reason why some people have darker colored skin than others is that their skin has more of something called melanin. melanin is something in your skin. she also gave us some beads that can tell you if there is any UV by lighting up into different colors, the brighter the bead the more UV.
