My Mat Manners

Today I did a DLO about mat manners. I did two sides, on one side I did things that I need to improve on and on the other side, I did what I am going to do to improve my mat manners. Then I did a line at the bottom to show how good my mat manners are. Here is the DLO.

Sun Smart 

Yesterday a lady named Cherel came to talk to us about sun safety and skin cancer. She also talked about what actually gives a person skin cancer. The thing that gives a person skin cancer is ultraviolet rays or UV rays. She also said that darker-skinned people take longer to get sunburned. and the only reason why some people have darker colored skin than others is that their skin has more of something called melanin. melanin is something in your skin. she also gave us some beads that can tell you if there is any UV by lighting up into different colors, the brighter the bead the more UV. Here is a pic of UV beads.

What I am good at.

today I did a google drawing about my strengths. I had to write 10 things that I'm good at and I had also had to put the phrase focus on what's strong not what's wrong. Here is my work.

My morning with Fanimals

Today some people from Fanimals came with there dog Molson he is a golden retriever. Fanimals is a tv show about animals they have multiple anials like geckos and pigs and even horses. There where three people that came, one of them was jess she is one of the mane characters. Before they left we got some photos with Molson and jess. Here are the photos.

Goal setting

Smart goals

today me and my class continued a slide about smart goals. We have been doing them all year because we had to make goals about the term. At the end of the term we did an end of term reflection on if we completed  the goal or not. Here is my slide

My next step is to do the end of term reflection and then it will be fully finished.

Orana Wildlife Park

Yesterday Te Ara Takitini went to Orana Park. When we got there a lady told us the rules then we went in when we went in there was a porcupine and I learned that they were the biggest type of porcupine in the world. My favorite animal there was the gorilla because they are big and very strong, I also learned that gorillas have 98% of our DNA here is a picture of a gorilla.

 

My second favorite animal there was the lion because those lions had no manes, but that does not mean they where all females it means that the males didn't have manes, this is because the males got fixed so they can't mate but that also means they can't grow manes because they don't have the right hormone so all of there energy goes into growing, here is a picture.

Another animal I really liked was the Sumatran tiger when we looked at it the tiger was inspecting its habitat because the zookeepers were cleaning the habitat, then they let the tiger out after they left, I would show you a picture but there are none from yesterday.

Before we left we had a look at the meerkats, they were cool because they had a swing and they were playing, on it and they were also in a blue pool type container they were cute.

The day was overall the most fun I have had in a long time and I am happy that we got to enjoy the day with my class and my friends but what I am most grateful for is that learned even more about animals.

Yesterday the teacher gave us logins for a maths site called Sumdog it is a site where you play games and get coins to get coins you answer the questions in the games. My favorite game is junkpile here is a picture of me playing.
